Creating With PolyClay
Each art piece is one-of-a-kind.
Some basic techniques I use:
- Canes – this results in a sausage roll that can be reduced to various sizes and sliced. I use these mosaics to cover glass vases and as filler for other work.
- Mokume Gane – the name derives from a Japanese method that results in a woodgrain or layers of thinly sliced surprises. The technique is used for covering surfaces both large and small, and making unique but coordinating beads.
- Blends – a method that blends two or more colors and creates a smooth transition. Blends can be rolled or folded into canes or cut into shapes such as flower petals and leaves.
- Texture – surfaces can be matte to shiny or imprinted with various types of texture tools.
- Sculpting– objects shaped by hand or mold, may be applied to other clay background or objects.
